project to build a floating city made up of refurbished ships tethered
together. The mission of Mid Ocean is two fold: 1 - To revive, house, care for and hopefully provide a fulfilling life for refugees who have been rescued at sea. 2 - To demonstrate to a world overpopulated by the human species that, as rising oceans cover the habitat of a large part part of planet Earth: helping humans to survive upon the oceans could be a sustainable alternative to the predictable attrition to be wrought by horsemen accompanying an ocean rise Apocalypse. Note: This project was conceived in 1990 when an international oil company invited engineers, ecologists, economists and artists to propose sustainable alternatives to the current earth polluting practise of breaking up decommissioned tankers (and other ocean going vessels). |
